In this program, the different habitats present will be combined,
such as oak groves, riverside forests, pine forests of Pinus Sylvestris, broom
trees at different altitudes and mountain rockies.
We will visit each of these habitats looking for the most representative bird
species of each of them.
We propose to realize it in two days of 8 hours of duration to know in depth
the ornithological wealth of this mountain range.
Day 1: In search of mountain birds.
It will be the day dedicated to meet the birds that inhabit the highest areas
of the mountain, always above the limit of the trees. On this day, we can observe
birds of the piornal and mountain meadows such as the sage scrub, bluethroat,
alpine pipit, sandpiper, common accentor, Ortolan Bunting or Northern Wheatear.
Near the rocks we can see other birds such as Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush, Alpine
accentor (very rare) or Red-billed Chough.
At a lower altitude, near the boundary of the trees, we can find passerines
such as Melodius warbler, warbler, Common Whitethroat or Orphean Warbler.
Day 2: Oak groves, banks and pine forests of Gredos.
Our second day, we will dedicate to tour the forests of oaks and pine trees
located at lower altitude, in these places we can see birds as crossbill, Firecrest,
Goldcrest, Pied Flycatcher (Iberiae), Bonelli´s Warbler, Citril
Finch and raptors like Hobby, Honey Buzzard and Booted Eagle.
In the open areas with scrub or scattered hedges, we will look for birds such
as the Red-backed Shrike, a bird of typically northern distribution that is
present in Gredos.
Near the towns we will find other birds such as Cirl Bunting and
Rock Sparrows.
The
most outstanding bird species we can observe here are:

Eagle, Black Vulture,
